Naptime Recordings is the home base for engineer and producer Garrett Langebartels. The space is a cozy 400sf, nestled in the Broad Ripple Neighborhood of Indianapolis. Whether an artist is living and working with Garrett, working remote or stopping in for a few hours at a time, their experience can be characterized by thoughtful conversations about the music and lyrical content, ensuring each record will be uniquely reflective of the intention of the artist. Garrett’s experience with creating his own music began when he picked up a guitar in the 5th grade. As soon as he could play chords, he began writing songs. Shortly thereafter, bands were formed and rudimentary recording equipment was purchased. Now, 20 years later, he has gone deep down the rabbit hole. Whether writing guitar parts, employing the right micing technique or dialing in a master, Garrett makes every effort to consider the original idea of the song and artist. After spending time in commercial studios and finding them to be generally unwelcoming, expensive and sterile, Garrett designed and built Naptime with his own hands. The space is intentionally warm and welcoming. Everything from the wood tones to the furniture was designed with the artist in mind, while maintaining a professional sound and quality.
